As a wedding photographer, I often travel through the most beautiful parts of Slovenia and abroad, but Murska Sobota and Prekmurje hold a special place in my heart. The flat landscape, mild climate, thermal waters, hospitable people and rich cultural heritage create a unique atmosphere that is perfect for authentic, emotional and relaxed weddings.
Murska Sobota is the main town of Prekmurje – green, peaceful and full of charm. The city centre is decorated by the Town Park with a majestic castle, old trees and romantic paths along the Mura River. The surroundings offer endless plains, sunflower fields, vineyards, storks on rooftops and traditional homesteads. This is a place where time moves slower, where good words, homemade food and genuine relationships are still valued – all of which is beautifully reflected in wedding photography.
Why choose Murska Sobota for your wedding?
Prekmurje offers an incredible variety of locations within a relatively small area. In the town itself you can have an elegant wedding in the Prekmurje castle or in modern halls, while the surroundings invite you to idyllic countryside weddings on homesteads, in vineyards or by the Mura River.
The Town Park in Murska Sobota is one of the most beautiful urban parks in Slovenia. Shaded alleys, old trees, a lake and the castle in the background create a stunning setting for wedding portraits. It is especially beautiful in the early morning or at golden sunset, when the light gently filters through the leaves. Many couples choose a civil ceremony in the castle hall, followed by relaxed moments in the park.
For couples who want something more authentic, traditional Prekmurje homesteads and wine cellars in the surroundings (e.g. Črenšovci, Beltinci, Moravske Toplice or the Lendava area) are ideal. Here weddings can take place under old chestnut trees, at long tables with local delicacies – Prekmurje gibanica, pumpkin seed oil, homemade bread, cured meats and excellent wines.
Spas in Prekmurje (Moravske Toplice, Radenci, Lendava) offer a more modern, luxurious touch. Weddings by thermal pools, in spa centres or in hotel halls are popular for couples who want comfort and additional guest services.
My approach as a wedding photographer in Murska Sobota
In Murska Sobota and Prekmurje I prefer a natural documentary style with artistic elements. Because the landscape is flat and the light is very soft, I can create cinematic, airy images with a lot of depth.
During preparations I like to capture intimate moments in beautiful homesteads or hotel rooms – morning light falling on the wedding dress, details of shoes next to an old wooden wardrobe, or a bouquet of local flowers. During the ceremony I focus on genuine emotional expressions, while in the afternoon and evening I escape with the couple for romantic portraits.
A special charm of Prekmurje is its people. Guests are relaxed, joyful and love to celebrate. This is also visible in the photos – spontaneous dancing with accordion music, laughter at the table, hugs and genuine moments that don’t need to be staged.
In Prekmurje I mostly work with natural light, which is very pleasant and even here. I use fast lenses that allow me to work even inside old houses. In post-production I emphasize warm, soft tones – green plains, golden sunlight, earthy homestead colours and gentle pastel shades that reflect the Prekmurje character.
Couples often want their photos to feel warm and homely. That’s why I make sure the album is not only beautiful, but also very personal – full of sincere smiles, tears of joy and small details they will later look back on with love.
Weddings here happen more slowly, with more laughter, good food and a feeling of being truly among your own people. As a wedding photographer I have created many albums here that couples still call their favourites today.
