As a wedding photographer, I love venues that breathe history, natural beauty, and the authentic warmth of the Prekmurje region. Domačija Marof, located at Mačkovci 35, 9202 Mačkovci, is one of those exceptional hidden gems. This beautiful estate sits on top of a hill surrounded by the vineyards of Goričko and offers breathtaking views, tranquility, and elegance that create truly unforgettable wedding moments.
Domačija Marof has a rich history dating back to 1905, when the Hungarian noble family Szapáry built a hunting lodge, farm buildings, and a wine cellar here. Today, it is a modern winery renowned for its premium wines and has also become a popular wedding venue. The estate is surrounded by vineyards where grape varieties such as Welschriesling, Blaufränkisch, Sauvignon Blanc, Rhine Riesling, Green Sylvaner, and Zweigelt are cultivated with great love and respect for nature. At the top of the hill, you are welcomed by stunning views of endless vineyards and the untouched landscape of Goričko.

The area in front of the winery is ideal for ceremonies overlooking Goričko, while the interior spaces of the cellar with their modern rustic design create warmth for details and preparations. My Approach to Photography at Domačija Marof
At Domačija Marof, I love working in a natural documentary style with artistic touches. The vineyards, rolling hills, and soft Prekmurje light allow me to create cinematic and emotional photographs. During the preparations, I capture intimate moments in beautiful interiors where the light falls on the bride’s dress, bouquet details, or wedding rings resting on a wooden table. Ceremonies among the vineyards are filled with emotions that I love to capture in their truest form. In the afternoon and at sunset, I create romantic portraits with the couple among the vines, on the terrace with panoramic views, or beside the estate’s old walls. During dinner and the celebration, I focus on spontaneous moments – laughter around the tables, wine tastings, dancing, and the genuine joy of the guests. The special charm of Marof lies in the blend of wine-country elegance and homely warmth.
At Domačija Marof, I mostly work with natural light, which is exceptional because of the estate’s hilltop location. The soft vineyard light and warm interior shadows create ideal conditions for photography. In post-production, I enhance the green and golden tones of the vineyards, the warm earthy colors, and the gentle transitions of light that reflect the character of the estate. The result is a collection of photographs that radiate romance, elegance, and a genuine connection with nature.
